Following 14 years of extensive research on the life and legacy of O.C. Gilbert, and two previously published essays on the topic, Stephanie Gilbert is preparing the release of an extensive scope of work on 250 years as documented by the Gilbert family and one of its most celebrated figures, Oliver Cromwell Gilbert.

Themes include particular focus on the experiences of African American communities, both free and enslaved, as daily life yields opportunities for joy, love, marriage, community, worship, advocacy, resistance and self-liberation.

Research is inspired by and centered around the unpublished memoir of Oliver Gilbert as dictated to his wife, Maria, at the turn of the 20th century.

Geography includes Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Boston, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey and Canada.

Featured associates of Oliver Gilbert include William Lloyd Garrison, Frederick Douglass, James Miller McKim, Thaddeus Stevens, William Cooper Nell, Moses Austin Cartland, Governor Edwin Warfield, William Henry Ryder, etc.

Prospectus is available upon request from validated publishers. Rights for simultaneous submissions are reserved unless and until agreed upon in writing.
